So I mean I just edited the scene as it was

Richard stayed on his boat in the river and Philip stood on the land. Richard came over to speak with Philip about their current war early in the morning when the dew was still fresh on the grass and a dim fog settled around them.
Philip asked softly if they could speak alone, but Richard coldly disregarded him, knowing the decision he had to make- which was no. Before he could even tell Philip, Philip could tell by the look on Richard's face, and he let his tears fall. He hung his head in shame before glancing back up, clenching his fists tightly. He gave Richard his last begging look.

Richard actually hesitates, feeling the tears well up behind his eyes. He looks strained for a moment, but he knows he cannot falter. He must think of the politics, the war, and how this love would never, ever be meant to be.
