Top 10 Yaoi Couples -JANUARY 2014- by Vixenfurr Top 10 Yaoi Couples -JANUARY 2014- by Vixenfurr
Blank: sorceress2000.deviantart.com/a…

Jeez, I did this meme last on February 2012. It's time for an update!!

I must say, I forgot about Shizaya- I sincerely apologize uwu my KuroBas feels made me forget.

Sorry for the awkward photoshop, I'm tired.

1. Shiki x Akira from Togainu no Chi

Plot summary: Togainu no Chi is a visual novel by Nitro+Chiral* that centers around the year 2021, if I remember correctly. The third World War has broken out, and Japan entered its own Civil War, dividing it into two. Meanwhile, Akira, the main character, is a famous participant in a game called Bl @ ster, a streetfighting game for entertainment.  One night, he is suddenly accused for murder he did not commit and arrested immediately. A woman named Emma offers him freedom from his life sentence in jail if he goes to the city of Toshima (formerly Tokyo), and participates in a deadly game known as Igra. To participate, one must meet with Arbitro- the head of the crime organization called the Vischio- and tell him their reason for their decision. Once approved by Arbitro, participants are given five dog tags, each engraved like a card in a standard deck of playing cards. One tag must hang from the participant's neck as proof of participation. Participants must then put their lives on the line to collect others' tags, with the goal being to collect a Royal Flush. If a participant collects a Royal Flush set of tags, they earn the right to challenge Il Re- the strongest man in Toshima- in battle. Battles end when one party either dies or lets their back touch the ground. The winner takes the loser's tags and is free to do as they please to the loser after that, often resulting in the loser's death.

Why I Ship This Couple: As you know, visual novels have routes, allowing you to decide who Akira ends up with. The most popular of the TnC routes is Shiki x Akira. So, basically, they are canon. Secondly, why do they stand out against the other pairs? They seem to fit together so well. Akira, at first, is terrified of Shiki. Though, Shiki sees himself within Akira- he felt the same fear upon meeting his nemesis, Nano- and he is afraid himself. Shiki has wasted his entire life chasing after Nano, bloodthirsty and vengeful. Though, he doesn't want Akira to do the same to Shiki- so he decides to really make it clear to Akira that he will never beat him, Shiki is in charge. Along the way, Shiki falls in love with Akira, but he has never felt love, and isn't gentle towards Akira... though after a few rounds of unpleasant sex, Shiki becomes more intimate as he realizes his feelings. Shiki is still a mentally and emotionally wrecked man, making their relationship extremely complicated.
It's very hard to explain, but they do work out together in the end.

2. Noiz x Aoba from DRAMAtical Murder

Plot summary: DRAMAtical Murder is a visual novel by Nitro+Chiral* that takes place far in the future. On the island of Midorijima, a new company developed named Toue Inc. that researches the human brain. On the island, Toue built an extravagant new town known as Platinum Jail, where the weather is controlled and the time of day, where people go to party all the time. However, the original islanders had to stay in their old town, now named Old Residents District. In that district, Aoba is a 23-year-old man working at a junk shop named Heibon. He struggles with unexplained random headaches, and lives with his pharmacist grandmother. His headaches are due to his power, called Scrap, to control minds with his voice- the result can be good or terrible- terrible resulting in a permanent comatose or even death. In the Old Residents District, the youth groups participate in two games known as Rib and Rhyme. Rib is a more hands on fighting experience, whereas Rhyme is phenomenon where you are put in an electronic game in your own consciousness. In Rhyme, you fight with your Allmate against other people and their Allmates.

Why I Ship This Couple: Like Togainu no Chi, Noiz and Aoba have a route in which they become canon. I must say, these two are really... really sweet together. Noiz is unable to feel pain, hence all of his piercings. He lost the feeling long ago, when ignored by his parents, who saw him as nothing but a parasite. When Aoba falls in love with him, Noiz begins to feel again, and it's even more enhanced when the good ending is reached, which I won't spoil. Noiz may act stand-offish at first, but he's really a dork who doesn't have any friends and he's really smart, too. He makes me all happy and fuzzy inside, and with Aoba, they are not only very sexy, but very emotional, and just.. adorable.

:star: If you want to play DMMd without the struggle of downloading it and applying the english patch, simply go to kreddu's account on YouTube- they have uploaded the entire game in english, all routes. Simply watch, and you can choose which routes you want to do! It's the same as playing, except kreddu follows the general common route with some minor differences than the other common route, but the plot is exactly the same (the only difference would be some words and reactions/how things happened). I'm afraid I cannot help you with Togainu no Chi, since there are English translations on YouTube but not of the entire game.

3. Nezumi x Shion from No. 6

Plot summary: No. 6 is a 9-volume novel series. It has an 11-episode anime adaption. Taking place in the future, a forest was burned and destroyed by the police force of a town known as No. 6. No. 6 is the latest district of the new world that had suffered damage from natural causes- all traces of the world before this one were lost and life had started anew. It is supposedly an utopia where people live heaven on earth. During the brutal violation of the forest, a tribe of people were all slaughtered with one survivor by the name of Nezumi, or "Rat" in english. During his escape, he is shot and bleeding to death when he nears the villages of No. 6. He gets inside of a boy's home, known as Shion, who helps him and lets him rest there for the night even while knowing Nezumi was a fugitive. In punishment, he and his mother are removed from their rich home in Cronos and moved to the Lost Town. Four years later, they run a bakery and Shion works in a waste-management company. Shion finds out No. 6's dirtiest secret- and while he's being arrested for finding out, he is saved by Nezumi, and together they escape from No. 6 to the West Block, a very poor district outside of No. 6 where he lives. Together, they experience true love and work together to bring down the city of No. 6 that destroyed Nezumi's home so long ago.

Why I Ship This Couple: So many reasons. No. 6 is not your typical "yaoi" story at all. It is much deeper than a simple romance, no matter the sexes. Not only does the plot of No. 6 contain so much symbolism and deeper meaning, but the way love is shown is purely beautiful. There is no sexuality confusion, no embarrassment, no... anything. Shion and Nezumi are truly in love, they both know it and it's beautiful to watch them go from two strangers with nothing in common to a match made in heaven. A beautiful story and possibly the best anime I have ever watched.

4. Natsuki Usami x Yuki Sanada from Tsuritama

Plot summary: Tsuritama is an anime that takes place on the small island of Enoshima. Yuki lives with his grandmother and suffers social anxiety, making a strange face whenever confronted by anyone besides his grandmother. Upon moving to Enoshima, he meets a strange boy named Haru who calls himself an alien and decides to live with him and his grandmother. Haru drags a kid in their class named Natsuki Usami into their friendship, forcing Natsuki to teach them how to fish. Haru claims that Yuki can save his friend by fishing, and Natsuki can teach him how. Meanwhile, Akira Yamada is an alien investigator, and he observes from a distance before attempting to befriend the boys. Eventually, all four of them are as close as can be, and together they can save Haru's friend and the world- somehow- by fishing.

Why I Ship This Couple: Yuki is a cutie patootie and that wasn't supposed to rhyme but it did. He's awkward, he's nervous, and many people can relate to him. Natsuki is a big soft dork who's the perfect older brother to his little sister, but is cold to everyone else. Though, as he and Yuki learn to be friends, they immediately begin to fall in love, and together they realize how wonderful love feels. How sweet, right? In the beginning of the show, Yuki barely talked, Natsuki never smiled. By the end, they were laughing, smiling... sweethearts. c: Not much else to say, but if you watch the show, you will watch their relationship grow.

5. Rai x Konoe from Lamento: Beyond the Void

Plot summary: Lamento is a visual novel by Nitro+Chiral* centering on a parallel universe that seems to be set far back in time in a country- or rather, world- known as Sisa. It was created by a cat goddess known as Ribikia, who was a woman with cat ears and a tail- but if she ever appeared to the cats of Sisa, she would look like a cat from the world we know. In the story, the term "human" is unknown- the creatures call themselves "cats." In the small village of Kaoru, Konoe lives alone due to the death of his mother. The village is starving and once in a while, the cats will sacrifice one of their own and perform cannibalism. Konoe is disgusted by this, but one day, strange markings appear on his skin. His ears and tail turn black, and the villagers decide he is next to be eaten. In fear, Konoe flees into the Void, a forest that is said to never end, and anyone who goes in never comes out. Within the Void, Konoe goes on a journey that will change his life forever.

Why I Ship This Couple: I haven't played all of Lamento yet since the translations are still progressing, but from what I've seen, these two are precious. At first, they dislike each other, but Rai becomes charming, slightly awkward and very sweet. Konoe brings out this side of him and together they are just perfect. I cannot wait to keep playing this masterpiece of a game!

6. Tohru Mutou x Natsuno Koide from Shiki

Plot summary: In a small mountain village, a new family known as the Kirishikis moves into a new and extravagant European styled home. Without warning one night, a girl named Megumi falls into a trance-like state, and dies a few days later. The boy she liked, Natsuno, is haunted by images of her, and keeps feeling that she isn't truly dead. He confides in his best friend, Tohru, for comfort, but one by one, the people in the village begin to die. Toshio, the village doctor, struggles to find out why the people are dying, and slowly, both Natsuno and Toshio begin to realize that the Kirishikis are not quite normal.

Why I Ship This Couple: Well, basically, Natsuno and Tohru are "best friends" but we all know they are in love. Tohru looks at Natsuno very lovingly and Natsuno finds comfort in Tohru's presence. Together, they are a perfect match- that is, until Tohru dies in a similar way the others have died. Natsuno, shocked and heartbroken, is determined to find out why Tohru had to die- and he suspects something beyond belief- vampirism, due to a strange "dream" he had the night Tohru fell ill, of Megumi sucking his blood. Sure enough, he hears Tohru's voice days after he is buried, and he immediately chases after Tohru. Tohru hides in shame, terrified because he is starving, hungry for blood and he was ordered by the head of the vampire clan to kill Natsuno (considering he figured out their secret). Natsuno tries to kill Tohru but can't bring himself to do it, and decides that they should run away together, with Tohru drinking a little of Natsuno's blood every so often so they can both live. Tohru looses control as he feared and bites Natsuno's neck. Natsuno falls ill, and Tohru comes to visit, crying tears of apology as he fed. Natsuno eventually dies, and Tohru leaves daisies by his bedroom window every night, hoping Natsuno will rise. Natsuno does rise, and sees how Tohru misses him. Miserable and heartbroken, Natsuno can't bear to see Tohru in this much pain, and his goal becomes to kill the clan of vampires, especially the one that ordered Tohru to go through so much pain. It's so deep, and so sad, and the whole anime makes me super sad. I love this pairing ;A;

7. Akashi Seijuro x Furihata Koki from Kuroko no Basuke

Plot summary: In Teiko Middle School, there was a basketball team known as the Generation of Miracles. Every team member had an extraordinary skill in basketball, and together they were unbeatable. Once they graduated middle school, they separated into different high schools, and the story centers around the sixth member of the team known as Kuroko Tetsuya, who is ignored and barely known by others. Therefore, he is known as "the phantom sixth member" for his lack of presence. In Seirin high, he joins the basketball team, where he meets Kagami Taiga, his soulmate- the "light" to his "shadow"- and together, they try to bring down the rest of the Generation of Miracles, and strive to be the best in Japan.

Why I Ship This Couple: oh god, this started as a crack pairing and now I'm obsessed with it. Akashi is sly, he is cunning, he can read people like books. He is the ultimate captain for a basketball team- everything is precise, planned perfectly. Now, clearly, this guy is very cunning- so why wouldn't he seduce a cute, awkward, nervous boy from Seirin high? The pairing of an extremely unusual guy with an extremely normal boy is really, really sweet to me, and a lot of people agree. plus the fanfiction is so steamy omg

8. Rin Matsuoka x Haruka Nanase from Free! Iwatobi Swim Club

Plot summary: A group of boys who enjoyed swimming were split up after elementary school when one of them, named Rin Matsuoka, moved to Australia to train for the Olympics. Now in high school, the three remaining boys start a new swimming club, and welcome a new guy named Rei into their club. Rin returns to Japan, but strangely cold, distant and he acts cruel towards the members of the swim team. He joins a rival school, and the story unfolds, showing complicated feelings of love, friendship and heartbreak.

Why I Ship This Couple: You gotta be fucking kidding me. How could KyoAni make an anime off of a 30 second commercial and a novel make you so freaking sad and happy all at once? During the entire show, Rin is harsh towards Haru over a race they had when they were young, in which Rin lost. They now have an intense rivalry, but as the series goes on, you see how much Rin struggles, how much he really, truly loves Haru, and regrets how he acted and is acting. You see Haru fall in love with Rin, but suffer because he feels Rin hates him. In the end, their feelings finally get across to one another, and they are able to fall for each other without any pain. a match made in heaven.

9. Kise Ryouta x Kasamatsu Yukio from Kuroko no Basuke

Why I Ship This Couple: These two are so sweet. Kise is a model, super attractive with a pack of fangirls following him everywhere, and Kasamatsu is a grouchy short tsundere with a MASSIVE crush on Kise. Kise suffers from heartbreak- he had unrequited love for Aomine, and not only that, but he even thought he had a chance with Kuroko until the two he liked got together themselves. Even today, it hurts, but Kasamatsu is there for him and shows him what true love is. x3

10. Kagami Taiga x Kuroko Tetsuya from Kuroko no Basuke

Why I Ship This Couple: They are canon, period. Kuroko is the shadow to Kagami's light- Kagami is an outstanding player, enough to where he is a match for the Generation of Miracles. Kuroko only enhances his light, and they fall in love- Kagami there, a goofy, clumsy and awkward version of Kuroko's ex, Aomine. Aomine was too cold, too self-centered.. while Kagami is more loving. Kuroko is small, silent, beautiful, and Kagami can't help but to fall for him. To watch their relationship blossom over the span of the anime is precious. <3

* - a visual novel is as it sounds. It's like a game- there are pictures and text across the screen, normally in paragraphs. Whenever a character speaks, there are voice actors to enhance your experience. At times, you are prompted to make a decision for the character, and that determines how the game ends and who your character falls in love with/ends up with. It is best to play all routes with all characters to get the most experience of the game, because some vital parts of the plot are revealed in some plots and not others. It also helps you understand each character more and why they act a certain way. Nitro+Chiral is a branch off of the company Nitro+. Nitro+Chiral only produces BL games, and has produced in the following chronological order: Togainu no Chi, Lamento, Sweet Pool, DRAMAtical Murder, and DRAMAtical Murder re:connect. also its a good idea to play all routes of the N+C games because there's more sex :'D

So many Nitro+Chiral pairs <3 Gosh.
But yeah, to understand the storylines you really DO need to take all the routes (both good and BAD as well) but it's nice becase you see different sides of characters you wouldn't see otherwise :3
*this guy's a huge Nitro+Chiral game fan*
*and played all of them, wow*

I'M SO GLAD
I love all the N+C games so much like it's crazy. I just can't actually play them because I don't have the system requirements, but I watch everything I can on YouTube... and sometimes friends will play the game with me via screensharing on skype :) So I've done most of what I can! Luckily, DMMd is entirely on YouTube and I've almost finished the whole game, and next is re:connect. I still need to finish the rest of the routes for TnC though- like Rin's route, most of Motomi's route and Nano's route... but I've seen the rest!
I'm afraid I've only played the very beginning of sweet pool... and what's translated of Lamento. c:

Re:Connect's actually a really interesting game. It's a fandisk, so it's not as in depth, but it really fills in the missing pieces of DMMd very nicely.
Sweet Pool is really cringey/icky but somehow I ended up really enjoying it, once I looked past my disgust and at how fascinating the concepts and storyline actually were.
I only have the DMMd games and Sweet Pool on my computer unfortunately. TnC gave my laptop issues and Shiki's routes wouldn't work, so I watched those online. Haven't found Nano's yet though.
Waiting for Lamento to be fully translated to pop it on the computer again. ^^;

I know of a youtuber who has fansubbed everything of Lamento, if you wanted to watch videos of it btw!

Ohh! Sounds cool, I just finished DMMd so I'm excited : )

I hear that about Sweet Pool a lot, haha ^^; Which is fine with me, because I don't mind gore even if it's really disgusting- as long as there's a good reason for it, I really don't care...

Oh really? I found a fansub of Lamento before but it was the most confusing sub ever... it was google translated or something... but if you mean a legitimate sub, then I'm interested!

https://www.youtube.com/user/y… <- that's the Lamento person's channel. Start with Rai's route's playlist. It has the beginning as well as scenes that the uploader skips in the others (so you aren't watching the same stuff over and over)

Awesome on the DMMd front! It's such a good game and honestly, I find that all the endings are satisfying (even Mink's, though I hated him until playing Re:Connect, then I understood his reasonings a bit more)

Gore doesn't bother me either. It was simply a warning~ :)
There's definitely a good reason for it.

Ohh.. that's the person I found before and I honestly can barely understand their translations :/ I'm just gonna wait for the other team to finish. What they released so far was very understandable and thrilling.

I opened right up to Mink even if he was a dick to Aoba at first. =u= Butttt yeah I tend to have an open mind. c:

Ahh.
English isn't her first language, so I guess with that in mind, it was nice for getting to know the stories. But that was just subs OVER the video.
I haven't seen any of the translated game, but I look forward to it being finished! :3

I couldn't...I don't know. Just the forcefullness was uncool to me in a way that made me feel queasy.
But then understanding him, I kinda wanted to be Aoba so I could hug him. You know??

Yeah, I mean, I figured, it was just... not enjoyable for me, and I hear the full translation should be released very soon. :D

I definitely didn't like when he would beat Aoba. That wasn't okay at all, and in no way would I ever try to justify his actions, but I do feel it's necessary to have characters that aren't angels, you know? It adds some reality in there, some fear, some disgust... but I do admit, his good ending was interesting. As in, when Toue was killed, what we heard Mink say and stuff... it was interesting. So, I mean, I find characters like him complex and interesting even if I don't like what they say or do.
